Factory-Direct Discount Golf Clubs

March 22, 2008

The big golf companies, Callaway, TaylorMade, Nike, etc. all rely on our thirst for the newest technology and our desire to have “crowing rights” when they market their clubs. The advertising, research and development costs for this technology are reflected in the cost of their clubs. Most of us don’t need the latest technology for our respective games. We don’t play like pros so it doesn’t make much sense to pay top-of-the-line prices. Why pay $500 for the newest TaylorMade driver or $1,000 for a set of latest Callaway irons when a set of well-made Discount Golf Clubs are available at a fraction of their higher-priced cousins. Has anyone purchased a name-brand driver lately? Are you happy with the kind of grip that came with the club? With factory-direct clubs, the quality of the components, such as the shafts and the grips, are the same or better in discount golf clubs than are found in their higher-priced equivalents. Many sought-after high-tech features (oversized heads, variable weighted heads in drivers) are also now available in discount clubs.

Another added benefit of buying discount golf clubs is that many “factory-direct” companies offer custom selection of features. I’ve owned several sets of name brand irons over the years. Some sets didn’t fit my swing at all. The other sets I’ve owned always had one or two clubs in the set that didn’t feel right when I swung them, or weren’t as consistent as others in the set. Lower prices and custom-fitting make even more sense for the casual golfer who is just now thinking about taking the game more seriously. Why should the new golf enthusiast pay a premium price for ill-matched clubs. The money a starting golfer saves in buying quality discount clubs could be applied more effectively for proper instruction. If making your own clubs isn’t an option, take a serious look at factory-direct discount golf clubs as an alternative to the big boys. There’s nothing “discount” in performance or in value.
Gigagolf.com offers a full line of custom-built woods, hybrids, irons and putters for both men and women. The folks there have made it easy to determine which features to get with their on-line and automated selection system. The prices are unbeatable, the quality is top-notch and the clubs look great. For example, the TaylorMade R7 knock-off (pictured above) with the standard shaft and grip sells for under $100. Adding upgrades for grip and shaft and additional adjuweights bring it in under $135. Don’t take my word for it. Read the on-line testimonials. Look around their site. You’ll be impressed. If you’ve been thinking about getting new clubs and you want to save a bunch of $$$, give these folks a try!
