Repeatable Golf Swing Aids

March 24, 2008

The goal of every golfer is to have a synchronized and repeatable golf swing that produces a consistent result. It doesn’t matter if you fade, draw or slice (well maybe not slice) the ball. If you can’t strike the ball the same way each time, then you can’t confidently know how to plan your shot or know where your shot will land. How much better would your game be if you knew that every shot you took would be a fade each time or a draw each time? Two important elements in achieving a reliable and repeatable golf swing is having a smooth tempo and keeping the golf club on a consistent plane. That’s the path of the swing the golf club takes to strike the ball.

You could set up two or three strategically placed cameras or set up a full sized mirror or use a golf cap with a laser-guided beam to study your swing, but you wouldn’t have those devices on the course with you when you play. To get a reliable, repeatable golf swing, you have to play by “feel”. But it’s hard to “feel” when you start your backswing too quickly. It’s hard to “feel” if you’re accelerating through your swing at the right speed. It’s hard to “feel” if you’re approaching the ball from the right angle. Those “feels” have to be grooved by training your muscles to make the right moves at the right time.

Fortunately, Medicus, a long-time maker of golf swing aids, has a couple of proven tools that can help you groove a reliable and repeatable golf swing. The first one is the hinged golf club, which has been endorsed for years by Davis Love III.The aid is a full-sized golf club, which has a collapsible dual hinge (you can see a picture of it on the right. It looks exactly like my driver after I’ve wrapped it around a tree). If you start your swing too quickly, the club collapses at the hinge. If your backswing is off-plane, the club collapses. If your downswing is off-plane, too fast or too slow, the club will collapse. If you swing the club at the right tempo and maintain a consistent plane, you’ll actually be able to strike a ball. In a short time, your muscles will “remember” the right speed and positions to make a successful swing. The second tool is the weighted swing trainer. This aid is an extra-heavy club which trains your muscles to make a grooved swing because you can’t swing it too fast or whip the club out of position. Sheer gravity and centrifugal force drops the club and your hands and arms into the proper swing plane and you’ll have to recruit other muscles to swing properly. I’ve used both devices with great success, especially when my swing gets out of the groove. Each swing tool can be used indoors or outdoors, with a ball or without. The weighted sand wedge is especially good for finding and keeping the right “feel”on pitch shots to the green and can actually be used on the course.

If your goal is to have a reliable and repeatable golf swing, get these trial-tested and best-selling swing tools now. Right now you can save 40% on the hinged driver and get a putting training device and DVDs free or you can save $25 or more on their selection of weighted clubs.
